Welcome to the latest list from Field & Vine Wine Merchants. We have some great new additions, which include a handful of really fresh and zingy whites, a wonderfully drinkable rosé and some lovely, honest reds.

There are a number of good reasons to buy your wines through an independent wine merchant like Field & Vine as opposed to your local supermarkets. We can offer some really delicious wines that are made by small producers who are passionate about wine and really care about what they produce. Just as meat and vegetables taste better from the butcher and the farm shop, wine tastes better from a good supplier! And with FREE local delivery, buying from us is even more convenient than the local supermarket...

I have put a number of our latest wines into a mixed case offer which is on the latest wines page.

White Wines

La Brouette, Côtes de Gascogne, France
Fresh, bright white with attractive aromatics and hints of orchard and citrus fruit. Nicely balanced. Our house white. £5.00

Marquis de Lissac Chardonnay 2004, Vin de Pays de Cotes de Thongue
Freshness is key here. The grapes are picked at night and remain on their lees for two to four months being stirred regularly. The wine shows tremendous vitality, with an additional grapey richness on the mid-palate. £5.50

Heywood Chardonnay-Colombard 2005, South East Australia
Straw colour, with an abundance of fresh apple aromas. Peaches, lemon and rockmelon fruits. It is a crisp, mouthfilling and fruit driven wine with good length. £5.50

Heywood Sauvignon Blanc 2005, South East Australia

This is a remarkably fresh, focused Sauvignon. Bright and vibrant, it is effortlessly balanced and very refreshing. 'Proof that Australia can do mouthwatering, great-value sauvignon', Joanna Simon in The Sunday Times, 5th Febuary 2006. £5.75

La Combe de Grinou Blanc, AC Bergerac 2005, France NEW VINTAGE
A domaine bottled blend of 50% fresh, grassy Sauvignon Blanc and 50% rich Sémillon, offering fabulous dry yet slightly honeyed fruits that will evolve throughout the year. £6.00

Côtes de Lubéron Blanc 2004, Domaine Perrin, France NEW VINTAGE
30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Bourboulenc, 30% Ugni Blanc,10% Roussanne. Rather late harvested grapes makes for optimum ripeness. The nose and palate are extremely aromatic with citrus fruit, apples and floral notes. £6.50

Nelson’s Creek Sauvignon Blanc 2006, Paarl, South Africa NEW
The first of this year’s vintage on the list and what a wine! Zingy gooseberry on the nose with bags of tropical and green apple fruit, very fresh and absolutely delicious. £6.95

Petit Bourgeois Sauvugnon Blanc 2005, Henri Bourgeois, VDP du Jardin de la France, France NEW
People tend to refer to this as 'poor man's Sancerre' which does this lovely wine a great disservice. It puts many a real Sancerre to shame with a very pure expression of richly weighted citrus and gooseberry fruit. £7.20

Sparkling Wines

Champagne de Mongis Brut NV EXCLUSIVE
This champagne is a mix of 60% chardonnay and 40% pinot meunier, matured in bottle for 3 to 5 years, giving a fresh, lively wine with lovely fruit notes and a soft round finish. £15.00

Champagne Delamotte Brut NV
An enticing fresh vibrancy, yet a perfectly balanced acidity. There is underlying richness and a fine mineral character. £18.00

Champagne Delamotte Rosé
A whisper off pink, this has seductive aromatic berry fruits on both the nose and the palate. Very attractive. £24.00

Red Wines

La Brouette, Vin de Pays d’Oc, France
Very supple and ripe with very smooth, well-integrated, almost imperceptible tannins, this is a very straightforward, gentle wine. Our house red. £5.00

Heywood Shiraz 2004, South East Australia
Deep plum-blackberry in colour, this has a sweetly-fruited, intense nose and palate, rich in bright fuit and laced with spice. More subtle than most Australian reds and all the better for it. £5.50

La Combe de Grinou Rouge, AC Bergerac 2004, France
The sister wine to our excellent and ever popular house white, this is alluring, ripe and generous with a sweet intensity and spicy backdrop. 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. £6.00

Taja Monastrell 2004, Jumilla, Spain
'From the hilly vineyards in Jumilla, in south-easter Spain, comes this hugely enjoyable red. Really ripe, juicy and jammy, with a long, warming finish', Jonathan Ray in the Daily Telegraph, 22th February 2006. £6.00

Clot de Gleize 2004, VDP des Bouches du Rhone, France NEW
‘A heavy curtain of tannin weighs down the intense ripe fruit and flavour, and there is no doubt that this wine has the capacity to mature into something full of summery warmth and indolence. A definite bargain at the price, and worth keeping for a year’, Roger Scruton in The New Statesman, 27th March 2006. £5.90

Cotes de Ventoux Rouge 2004, Perrin, France NEW VINTAGE
50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Carignan, 5% Cinsault. This is a ripely-fruited red with sweet, spiced berries supported by smooth tannins. An excellent all-rounder, it has real southern Rhône character. £6.50

Chateau la Liquiere Cuvee des Amandiers, AC Faugeres 2004, France NEW VINTAGE
This provides an attractive, classical style and is beautifully balanced, drinking well now but with the ability to age. It reveals enticingly aromatic, fresh red and black fruit supported by a ripe, well-integrated, tannic structure. £7.25

L’Orangerie de Carignan 2003, Premier Cotes de Bordeaux, France NEW VINTAGE
A bright, vibrant wine suitable for early drinking. The grapes comes from the estate's younger vines and see no oak. Joyously fruity with hints of cedar and spice on top of the blackcurrant and raspberry flavours. £8.25

Malbec 2004, Bodega Ruca Malen, Mendoza, Argentina
NEW
Organically produced, this fabulous wine is 85% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. It has a peppery nose and lashings of sumptious soft black fruits with a touch of spice and a hint of oak. Really wonderful. £9.10

Chateau Barrail du Blanc 2003, Grand Cru St Emilion, France
NEW VINTAGE
This tiny property has been managed by the same family for 150 years. A really lovely early drinking St. Emilion with smooth, seductive, juicy and elegant flavours. Smashing stuff. £13.45
